So, what happened to the oil? Faster than it went off the well, the oil disappeared of the Gulf of Mexico. Within a week, things in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida look a lot better. The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches of Panama City Beach are full of tourists and things turned out much better than it was predicted. CNN, FOX, MSNBC, local news, etc., they are all happy and celebrating our cleaner waters. So what happened? It was tropical storm Bonnie what ultimately stirred the waters in the Gulf of Mexico. As I see it, BP should name itself, BPTB (British Petroleum Thanks Bonnie). In the long run, this will save BP billions of dollars.

I do not want to be pessimistic, but I believe that in years to come, we will see the result of this environmental disaster. The oil did not disappear, it just dispersed, and lost or some of its properties broke down. Regardless, I believe that a lot of oil is sitting at the bottom of the Gulf or is mixed up in the mid-layers of the waters. Oil and water do not mix too well, last I heard. I believe that somewhere down the line, we will see the negative effect on animals, plants, reefs, etc. Perhaps a few more tropical storms could help? I’m sure there are some experts out there in the blogosphere who can educate us on the subject.

Of course, I truly hope that I am wrong. Hopefully we have seen the worst of this spill. Regardless of your political views, or whether you send Al Gore a Christmas card or not, you have to admit, seen those beautiful pelicans covered on oil was not a good thing. It was sad and it made me feel like crap, as a human. After all, I do have two six cylinders cars! In the mean time, come down to our beaches, visit the casinos in Gulf Port, go eat that wonderful food in Louisiana and Mississippi. We need your tourist dollars, is does not get too cold here at all, and we will welcome you to our wonderful beaches.
