It is hard for me to come to terms that we will forced to elect our Washington officials in just a few weeks. Whom should we trust? The Democrats? The Republicans? How about those who claim to be Independents? Finally, what about the “Tea Party”? We, as voters, really need to take our time deciding who would represent us the best in Washington. The immigration issue has become a “hot potato” with politicians, and federal and state governments. Border security, quotas, terrorism, human rights, and many other terms and events revolve around the term “illegal immigrant.” However, we cannot address the issue without having adequate policies that will address the needs of the industries, which depend on the skills that illegal immigrants bring, while managing our national security. Providing a system that will establish a reliable level of control over who is in the country, and knowing their immigration status, is a critical and reasonable demand of those of us who live in the US. First, we must try to understand the issue.

Perhaps the hottest issue in the news now is that of the new proposed immigration law in Arizona. As of right now, it looks like the debate will continue as the appeal process is likely to reach the Supreme Court. As I try to keep up with this issue, I often wonder whether we Americans understand the possible ramifications if this law is to pass, or whether we understand whether the law is too vague, and if it could open the door wide open for people who may have alternate motives when enforcing the law.
